Class-C IP addresses are a set of IP addresses that are not required to be publicly routable. This is due to the fact that they are not used on the public Internet, but instead, they are reserved for private networks.
Class-C ranges of IP addresses do come with their drawbacks though, and companies who choose to use them should be aware of this. The most obvious limitation is that these networks cannot have more than 254 devices connected at any one time.
